Ohio Detectorists Association 2023 Treasure Hunt!
Chance to cash in on up to $2,000 in silver and prizes

Become a member of the Ohio Detectorists Association and learn how to cash in on silver finding hundreds of buried tokens located in southwest Ohio parks.


  • 200+ Tokens buried at parks and club meeting locations.
  • Park list will be updated and handed out at each club meeting.
  • Each token has a unique ODA number, token, and point value.
  • Members that find the top three points win a treasure chest full of loot. Most points pick first and so on. (Value will be between $150 to $300 for each treasure chest.)
  • Top 4 to 10 point getters will win a prize at the end of the year.
  • A silver coins will be given at each meeting to members that show new ODA treasure tokens found the previous month.
  • Must be a 2023 ODA member to claim prizes.
  • Final awards given at the year-end Christmas party.

Rules: 

Use of metal detectors and digging is prohibitedin these designated Parks and Preserves: Sawyer
Point/Yeatman’s Cove, T.M. Berry InternationalFriendship Park, Smale Riverfront Park, WashingtonPark,
Rawson Woods, Parker Woods, Buttercup Valley,California Woods, Magrish Preserve, CaldwellPreserve,
Seymour Preserve, Bettman Preserve, and LaBoiteaux Woods. 

Other prohibited areas include planting

beds, gardens, mulched areas around trees, unmowed vegetation, the infield areas of ball fields and all other areas closed to the public, or as directed byPark staff.

Parks of Hamilton County


Good at 7 Parks

In order to metal detect in Hamilton County parks you must purchase an annual Motor Vehicle Permit.

The cost of an annual Motor Vehicle Permit is $10 for residents of Hamilton County and $16 for all other park visitors. Fees from Motor Vehicle Permits allow for metal detecting within the parks. No other permit is needed.


Valid Motor Vehicle Permits (MVPs) are required for every vehicle entering one of our Great Parks (Otto Armleder Memorial Park & Recreation Complex and Fernbank Park are cooperative ventures with the City of Cincinnati; therefore, a Motor Vehicle Permit is not required).


  1. Areas restricted from metal detector use are park district golf courses, areas designated for horticultural use, athletic fields, areas closed to the public, historic sites such as Shaker or Native American cultural sites, conservation areas, state dedicated nature preserves, designated wildlife sanctuaries, natural areas, or such areas where damage from probing may incur maintenance problems. This would essentially restrict activities to mowed public use areas that do not qualify in any of the categories above.
